Utilizing Robotic Process Automation for Business Performance

Robotic process automation (RPI) is the application of computer software with human-like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning abilities to manage high-volume, Repeatable, real-time tasks that in the past required humans to do. The term ‘RPI’ was first coined by Jon Sterling in 1990. It developed from the combination of two words ‘vised automation’ and ‘computerized automation’. It has been an object of constant research, development and testing over the years. It has found applications in manufacturing, scientific research, aerospace and energy as well as many other areas. Today it has found wide application in many industries including call centers, retail, hospitality, transportation, and even education and training.

Robotic process automation is also known as supervised or semi-supervised, human-based or total Artificial Intelligence (AAI). It has the ability to execute a wide range of activities. It can be used in various domains including supply chain management, customer support, inventory control, and manufacturing. These activities are achieved through the use of a variety of technologies including hardware, software, networking, data analysis and machine learning.

One of the best ways to utilize robotic process automation is through the implementation of Shared Services. Shared Services is a set of activities or services which can be made available to all or a limited number of participants during a conference or event. For instance, all participants in a conference can make use of the shared data storage, application execution, or monitoring capabilities.

Shared services offer benefits to both the internal IT team and the external client organizations. Internal teams get the opportunity to work on advanced problems in a safe environment. External organizations benefit from cost reduction, time and effort savings, and the assurance of efficient and consistent service delivery. The implementation of Robotic Process Automation is highly beneficial to the global business community especially small and medium-sized organizations (SME) who want to improve their operational efficiency.

The benefits of implementing robotic process automation lies in the implementation of partial executions and the utilization of artificial intelligence to support these partial executions. Artificial intelligence refers to the combination of hardware and software that can be combined together to solve different problems. There are two types of artificial intelligence – direct artificial intelligence (Dao) which are fed with data during an execution and use it to solve the problem; and non-dynamic artificial intelligence (and) which are not fed data during the execution but can adapt itself according to certain requirements and which uses and executes solutions determined by programmers and users. Examples of nnui applications include scheduling of jobs, scheduling of multiple tasks, and image processing. Robotic processes can be further divided into two main categories namely user directed and task directed.

In today’s fast paced business environment where business owners need to achieve maximum productivity and minimum cost, implementing these automated systems can greatly help businesses. The implementation of Robotic Process Automation can be done using either a server or a cloud. These applications utilize different servers and cloud services which allow them to scale up and down as required. They are able to get the benefits of multiple servers without investing a large amount of money as well as being able to implement and utilize artificial intelligence across multiple platforms and devices. They can also achieve greater control over the quality of work by eliminating human errors and improving process reliability and speed.
